Rebel Makeup

I was given 3 words which I then had to create a brand identity and a piece of packaging design.
-Rebel -Female cosmetics -Egg box
I decided to create an eye-shadow palette for teenage girls/ young adults who are just starting to wear makeup and experimenting with it. The visual imagery created by egg painting and using the 'splats' from the smashing of the eggs represent the rebellion and breaking the stereotypical 'rules of wearing makeup.' My brand 'rebel' encourages girls to wear what they want, wear as much as they want, wherever or whenever.

By making each palette and sticker design unique, it emphasised how the brand 'doesn't care' about the norms of makeup packaging. This also makes it more appealing as no-one else will have your box so it would feel like it's limited edition. The zine inside the palette encourages and builds up the confidence of the girls and reinforces the idea of making sure they feel comfortable, no matter how much and how they apply their makeup. Unlike other brands that sometimes include a mini booklet inside their palettes with a mini tutorial of how they can use their shades, this booklet just celebrates the freedom, and encourages the experimentation of makeup.
